✍️ My Story: ADHD Isn’t Just a Quirk—It’s a Whole Nervous System Experience
For a long time, I didn’t know I had ADHD. I just thought I was “bad at adulting.”
I lost my keys daily. Missed deadlines I desperately cared about. Started twenty projects and finished none. I’d hyperfocus for hours, forget to eat, then crash and wonder why I couldn’t function like everyone else. My emotions felt louder. My thoughts moved faster. My to-do list was a battlefield.
And yet—I was told I was “smart,” “creative,” “driven.” So how could I be struggling?
ADHD isn’t just distraction or restlessness. It’s emotional dysregulation. Executive dysfunction. It’s living in a body with a nervous system turned all the way up and no off switch. And for women especially, it often goes undiagnosed—masked by perfectionism, people-pleasing, or burnout.
Once I realized what I was dealing with, everything started to make sense. Not in a “now it’s easy” kind of way, but in a “now I know how to support myself” kind of way.
